Application questions

What are the main differences between Loose, Pressed, and Liquid Mineral Foundation?
The Loose Mineral Foundation comes in Youngblood’s “controlled distribution” packaging. It has greater coverage capabilities, up to and including camouflage coverage, and it imparts more of a radiant finish. The Pressed Mineral Foundation contains minerals and rice powder that delivers more of a matte finish, so it is recommended for oily and combination skin types. However, the Pressed Mineral Foundation does not have camouflage capabilities. It is ideal for touch-ups for any skin type. The Liquid Mineral Foundation is a marine mineral formula with soothing botanical extracts that offers a surge of hydration with a light to medium coverage.
If a client has a dry and very red skin (rosacea), what kind of foundation would you recommend?
We suggest using Loose Mineral Foundation because it will definitely cover up rosacea and is not drying to the skin. The Liquid Mineral Foundation is another good option because it is very hydrating. If more coverage is necessary, either mix your Loose Mineral Foundation into the Liquid Mineral Foundation or layer Loose Mineral Foundation over the Liquid Foundation.
Can you mix the Loose Mineral Foundation with your facial moisturizer or body lotion?
Absolutely. Mixing the Loose Mineral Foundation with a facial moisturizer, body lotion, or sunscreen makes a nice liquid for your face; this can also be used as body makeup. Some men may mix a small amount of Rose Beige Loose Mineral Foundation into sunscreen for a light tint that gives their skin a healthy glow.
Is Rice Setting Powder appropriate for all skin types?
Yes. Rice Setting Powder is appropriate for everyone—it should be offered as a companion to the Loose Mineral Foundation and the Liquid Mineral Foundation. It is also ideal as a primer for loose minerals. Rice Setting Powder is also perfect as a finishing step—use it to set concealers, loose minerals, and liquid foundation. In film and print artistry, it’s best to avoid the appearance of shine due to photographic lighting.
Can you mix Rice Setting Powder with Loose Mineral Foundation?
Yes. You can mix it at various ratios to diminish coverage level, alter or colour correct a shade of Loose Mineral Foundation, or enhance performance for a client with oily skin.
What shade of concealer is appropriate for dark circles?
A medium or dark concealer is appropriate due to its warm undertones that will cancel out and/or conceal the darker pigmentation. If a medium or dark concealer still needs to be closer to your skin tone, blend a little loose foundation into it. Avoid using a light concealer to cover up dark circles because this will give the client a “raccoon appearance.” A light concealer is great as an eyeshadow primer. You can mix it with a favourite loose eyeshadow to create a customized creamy eyeshadow (a favourite with more mature clients).
What are the differences between the Lip Shines and Lip Gloss?
The Lip Shines are fairly sheer with a small amount of pigment. The Lip Glosses have slightly more pigment and are multifaceted in colouration.
Does Youngblood offer shades designed for ethnic women? Are they natural looking without appearing ashy?
Yes, Youngblood minerals were specifically created to mirror your natural shade while enhancing it.
